Since 2020, IG1 has expanded its expertise to include time lapse photography, focusing on construction projects across Southern California. This time we invited Ivan, the founder of IG1 Communication, to share with us about their journey along the way.
1. What is the beginning of the time lapse journey
In early 2020, IG1 embarked on its first time lapse project for a commercial real estate developer constructing a warehouse. The client had previously been dissatisfied with the results from another vendor, which motivated us to deliver a better experience.
After thorough research, we chose Brinno cameras for their reliability and versatility. The project was a success, lasting around two years, and included monthly progress videos that showcased the construction’s development. The success of this initial project led to ongoing collaboration with the client.
2. How did you record or use a time lapse camera?
For most time lapse projects, we rely on a combination of one live camera and four or more Brinno cameras. The compact design of Brinno cameras allows for flexibility in capturing unique angles that are otherwise difficult for larger setups. During each project, the team conducts monthly site visits, adjusting camera placements as the construction progresses. As walls go up, cameras are moved inside the structure to capture interior work, with locations being updated every five to six months.

Among all their projects, IG1 highlights their current work at an iconic auto racing track in Southern California as the most intriguing. The historical significance of the site, combined with IG1’s passion for racing, makes this a particularly memorable venture. The project has involved a mix of time lapse, drone, and ground footage to create a comprehensive visual record of the redevelopment process.
The material created by JBS Agency now serves as both a public engagement tool and a benchmark for similar infrastructure projects.
